How it works

Three steps, then sell.

  1. 1

    Set up payouts

Once, in Earnings. Stripe asks who you are and where to pay you, and it saves as you go.

  2. 2

    Set your prices

Switch on the tickets you want to sell, 1, 3, 7, 10 or 30 streams, with a price for each in the currency you are paid in.

  3. 3

    Share your page

Copy the message with your next show and your price, or download a story picture with a code to scan.

Your viewers

Pay once, and it plays.

A viewer picks a ticket, pays by card on your page, and the stream plays there and then. Their ticket and its code come by email, so they can watch on another device or in the Lumbus Live app.

  • A stream counts the first time they open it; from then they come and go as often as they like
  • Its recording to download after, when you allow it
  • If your stream drops and you start again within 20 minutes, it is not counted twice
  • One device at a time, and Watch here instead moves it to another

Your streams

1 stream left on your ticket. A stream is yours from the moment you open it, and its recording can be downloaded here once the host’s studio has it.

You

See who paid, and who came.

Earnings shows every ticket sold, each stream with how many ticket holders joined it, and the list of who paid, to download. When a recording is ready, email it to everyone who watched that stream in one press.

  • Refund a ticket, or answer a dispute, from the same screen
  • Tickets with no end date, or an end you set, for a course for example
  • Your page stops selling when every seat has a ticket, and everyone with a ticket gets in
  • Paid out to your bank on the schedule you choose

Questions

Can I charge people to watch my stream?

Yes. Switch on Charge to watch and your watch page sells tickets for 1, 3, 7, 10 or 30 streams, at the prices you set. Viewers pay by card on the page, and the money is paid out to your bank.

The full answer

Yes. Set up payouts once in Earnings, then switch on Charge to watch for your watch page. You sell tickets for 1, 3, 7, 10 or 30 streams, each at the price you set, and viewers pay by card on the page itself, in a browser. You are the seller: your name is on the payment and on the viewer’s card statement. Each buyer gets their ticket by email, and you see who paid and how many came to each stream. Your page stops selling when every seat has a ticket, and everyone with a ticket gets in. A stream you charge for goes to your watch page alone: while Charge to watch is on, it can’t go out free on other platforms at the same time. Payouts can be set up in 43 countries, named in the next answer; if your bank account is in another, you can’t sell tickets yet. Every plan can charge to watch, Free included; the free trial can’t.

Which countries can I sell tickets from?

Those where payouts can be set up: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States. If your bank account is in another country, you can’t sell tickets yet; everything else in Lumbus Live works the same. Your viewers don’t need to be in these countries: they pay by card on your page.

What are the fees on ticket sales?

A platform fee on each ticket, by your plan: 20% on Free, 15% on Studio, 10% on Studio Plus, 8% on Studio Pro and 5% on Studio Max. Card processing fees apply too, and your earnings are paid out to your bank.

The full answer

A platform fee on each ticket, set by the plan your studio is on when the viewer pays: 20% on Free, 15% on Studio, 10% on Studio Plus, 8% on Studio Pro and 5% on Studio Max. Card processing fees are deducted from each payment, and your earnings are paid out to your bank on the schedule you choose in Earnings. When you refund a ticket, the platform fee on the amount refunded is returned to you. There is no monthly charge for selling tickets.

What counts as a stream on a ticket?

A stream counts the first time the viewer opens it. From then it is theirs: in and out as often as they like while you are live, and its recording to download after, if you allow it.

The full answer

A stream counts the first time the ticket holder opens it while you are live. From then that stream is theirs: they can leave and come back as often as they like, and download its recording once it is ready, when you record the stream and let ticket holders download (both are on by default). If your stream drops and you start again within 20 minutes, it is the same stream to them and is not counted twice. A ticket plays on one device at a time, and its holder can move it to another. Tickets have no end date unless you set one, from 7 days to 1 year after the payment, for a course for example.

Can viewers with a ticket watch in the Lumbus Live app?

Yes. Tickets are bought on your watch page in a browser. With the code from their ticket email, a viewer can watch in the Lumbus Live app too.

The full answer

Yes. Tickets are bought on your watch page in a browser, never in the app. Every buyer gets an email with their ticket’s code and a link back to your page. In the Lumbus Live app, a page that needs a ticket asks for that code, with no sign-in, and then plays.

Can I refund a ticket?

Yes. You are the seller, so refunds are yours to give, in full or in part, from Earnings. A full refund ends the ticket, and the platform fee on whatever you refund is returned to you.
